Ski touring, day trips, Chamonix- Zermatt High Level route

As a Mountain Guide living in Chamonix for many years, I organise Ňa la carte ski touringÓ according to your wishes and experience. Chamonix, a small town in the Haute Savoie situated at the foot of Mont-Blanc has imposed itself as the capital of alpinism. Since the first ascent of Mont-Blanc in 1786, the highest summits of the alps have become a veritable adventure playground for man. Each summit has itŐs own history and together they compose the saga of Alpinism. The Mont-Blanc range by itŐs uncommon architecture contains almost limitless skitouring.
The high level route Chamonix - Zermatt is commonly known simply as the ŇHigh Level RouteÓ. Depending on the route and the variations, five or seven days are neccessary to join the two alpine capitals, Chamonix and Zermatt. First performed in 1903, this skitour, the first of itŐs kind, marks the beginning of the era of high level ski touring routes. The classic route for this tour uses cable car access in Argentiere and a taxi transfer from Champex to Verbier. Because of this, the High Level route by Verbier is ideal, away from the classic route and being less serious and not so technically demanding. It is possible to do this tour without taking off your skis thereby prolonging the marvellous sensations. If your level allows you, and with a little more commitement you can do another Chamonix - Zermatt, a voyage where we prefer the strange to the classic.
